Call for Volunteers

After the success of the 2016 event, the NSW Waratahs Men’s Under 20 State 7s Championship and the NSW Women’s Open State 7s Championship will be held again in 2017. The date is still to be confirmed.

The championships are being organised by Newcastle Hunter Rugby Union (NHRU) and NSW Rugby. The Hawthorne Club, which supports rugby development and growth in the Hunter Region, is supporting the event.

Teams from throughout New South Wales will be travelling to Newcastle for the championships which require comprehensive organisation for the two days of the weekend.

NHRU and The Hawthorne Club are calling for volunteers to assist in the championships with a variety of roles available for those interested in helping.

Roles available will be:

  • Entry/Gate supervision
  • Team Liaison
  • Canteen Service
  • BBQ organisation (cooking)
  • Liquor Service (RSA required)

Volunteers will be expected to mainly work a three-hour shift (i.e.   8 -11am; 11am – 2pm; 2pm – 5pm). Times may vary according to duties.

Members of rugby clubs and rugby association who would like to volunteer on one or both days are invited to register with:
